Sinful Colors Mint Apple

Damn! These new Sinfuls are just freaking awesome. The shimmer in them is divine! Seriously so. Glowy. Incandescent. Luminous. It never picks up right on camera but in person it is stellar. Mint Apple is neither completely mint nor completely apple, but it is somewhere in between. A dusty aqua maybe. Intensely glowy silver shimmer that almost looks almost goldish in certain lights. This color looks so nice with my skin tone (very pale, cool), if I do say so myself. It's so soft yet so interesting... not boring at all. I think that's a unique quality unto itself: something that's soft and almost subtle, yet still retains interesting and offbeat elements. This one also had the goop around the cap that my other recently purchased Sinfuls have, and it applied just about the same: pretty good formula, 2 coats to opaque, and you could do three for good measure without going overboard.

Some photographic evidence for your viewing pleasure:

So nice! Shimmer can really be done well, as I think these polishes evidence. I have more Sinfuls that I purchased during a 50% off sale and I haven't tried many of them! Pretty sad, I may have to fix this soon.

Sinful Colors Rise And Shine

Another lovely new Sinful for you today. I hemmed & hawed today over this or Mint Apple but this one won, because I'm in a vaguely crappy mood (I also might have pneumonia) and I just needed something happy on my newly short nails. This is sorta in the vein of China Glaze Turned Up Turquoise (correct me if I'm wrong, sometimes my memory fails me), but I think I like it better. The base is more opaque, and the shimmer is more visible. I think the formula is also better for me. And it's pretty! Really pretty. Perfect thing for premature spring fever. I'm starting to appreciate Sinful Colors a lot because they're cheap. They're not perfect, but the shades are pretty cutting edge and you just can't go wrong. Plus, the formula, while it can be tricky/spotty, isn't, in my opinion, anything that should be a complete deterrent. Get thee polish thinner! So, this is two coats, and it's perfectly opaque. Like my other recent Sinful post, this polish also had lots gunked under the cap when I opened it. It's a disease! This one also must have a bit of neon in it because it dried quite matte between coats. It looked kinda blah, but slather on some Seche Vite and loveliness ensues. I swear.

Here is my evidence:

See? Fun. Since Mint Apple lost out last night and I'm on a green kick, I guess it's no secret what's (probably) coming up....

Sinful Colors Happy Ending

Happy Ending is one of several new Sinful Colors greens you'll be seeing grace the pages of this blog. Out of the four I got (not including Green Ocean), I chose Happy Ending as the first to try. Why? I love bright lime/spring green. I went through a phase with it. I'm quite drawn to it. And the shimmer in this? Golden and dazzling. It's quite gorgeous. It also exactly matches my desk lamp. After almost 4 days (unheard of, I know, I got burnt out) of BB Couture's Dark Knight, I was ready for something much much lighter. The shimmer in this one... you can see it in the bottle but on the nail it really shines. Also, what's with the name? Is it dirty or are we talking fairy tales here? Not sure. It doesn't seem to fit either way. Sinful has weird names sometimes. I'm blanking on another example but I'm sure there is one. Also: what's with Sinfuls being all gummy around the cap lately? I haven't bought Sinfuls in a year or so, but the 5 I got recently were ALL gummy with polish when opened... like they'd been used very ineptly. I wonder if it's some quality control issue or something.... So, because of this, mine was a bit goopy in general, so I added a bit of thinner before proceeding.

I used two coats here, but a third would've been ideal.

On my desk lamp--seriously, it matches exactly. Gold flash & everything.

So there's some Sinful. Applied pretty well after the thinner (not sure about before). Kind of weird consistency. Built up nicely, and dried very well. Now that I've thought about it, I don't know if I've actually ever worn a Sinful polish that wasn't a glitter topcoat before, and I own quite a slew of 'em. Damn Walgreen's BOGO, I overloaded and never bothered to catch up. This one ain't half bad.

China Glaze Flyin' High

Ah, the polish that will just not photograph. Another offering from the Up & Away collection that was lovely--easy to apply, opaque in 2 coats, and I got a number of compliments on it. It was fun to wear. These photos.... it's almost like they're not even of the same polish. I mean... it's just so much more green in real life and so much less bright turquoise... this literally looks like it could just be China Glaze Shower Together or Aqua Baby... but no. It's Flyin' High. I swear. These are so inaccurate that I even included the last one, which isn't a good photo, to attempt to try to depict the color. I fail. But it's a great polish, wonderful. You'll love it. It just doesn't really look like what's picture below.

Sorry these are so weird and kinda disappointing!

On another note.....

Some recent drugstore finds! You'll see Stellare Notte & Blackmail in there, as well as Borghese Almondine (what a bizarre/cool polish--an oddly speckled beige with a pink flash) Wet 'N Wild's Disturbia, Night Prowl, and that wacky orange creme, Sunny Side up. On the far end is Sinful Colors Mint Apple. I may have to hit up a few drugstores, but I guess I've gotten pretty lucky with finding things. I also got a few of the new Milani polishes (not pictured), the green & purple holos, but the rest looked so identical to a couple of China Glaze Kaleidoscope color that I already had that I passed on them. Plus, they appear to be part of the permanent display so I'll hold off. There is a great CVS in my town that always has the new collections. Anyway, just a preview of things you'll probably be seeing on my nails in the near future....
